Nick Walker was born in the UK and grew up in England, Belgium and The Netherlands. He has lived in Holland since 1977. With a Dutch mother and an English father he is completely bilingual.
Nick Walker holds a Cambridge Certificate for English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) and has 15 years of experience teaching English and Dutch to adult learners. He also holds a BA in Fine Art and a BA in Art Education.
This combination of an artistic as well as a linguistic background gives Nick a unique take on teaching languages. His approach is creative and fresh. With his background in Art his lessons often appeal to visual learners. His use of maps, photos, pictograms and board drawings help to generate language and enhance the learning process.
More recently Nick Walker attended a Harvard University workshop on Visible Thinking, an approach to learning, which is at the forefront of education. Nick Walker has also adopted a method of processing information, which is known as Mindmapping, pioneered by the British author and psychologist Tony Buzan.
Using language is all about expressing the ideas, opinions and news that shape our world. To quote the German philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein: “The limits of my world are the limits of my language.”
